Gerhard Matthäi

We take responsibility

Gerhard Matthäi was a qualified engineer for road and transport construction. In 1967, he took over the company from his father, Rudolf Matthäi, the original founder of the business. Gerhard Matthäi attached a profound sense of humanity, enthusiasm and unique commitment to both his work and the goals he had for his company. He was a visionary with a pronounced system of values that continue to characterise the quality of our work and our community to this day.

Gerhard Matthäi

Gerhard Matthäi felt a strong association with his birthplace of Verden all his life. Today, the Gerhard and Karin Matthäi Foundation sponsors the Domgymnasium school in Verden and supports young people in achieving success at school, in order to lay the foundations of success in their professional training and subsequent careers. These activities also include organising and financing a school exchange programme with a secondary grammar school in Tallinn, to promote openness and interest among young people for their European neighbours.

Gerhard Matthäi passed away at the age of 65. But his way of thinking, his sense of responsibility, his quality consciousness and his humanity remain alive.
